HOW IT HAPPENED
Energy was the name of the game for both squads coming into this one. With multiple playoff implications on the line, both teams yearned for a hot start. Oswego got just that as it didn't take long as the forward, Daniel Colabufo got on the board with a shot that found the back of the net. Colabufo has been on one as this was his fourth goal in the past three games. Oswego would waste no time putting the pedal to the metal to the Kangaroos. Brandon Cohen would strike for the Lakers on the power play and make it 2-0. It was his 14th goal of the season. Canton's Conor O'neill would pick up a tripping penalty and head to the sin bin at the 7-minute mark. Oswego wouldn't be able to capitalize, and the first period ended 2-0 in favor of Oswego.

Shots were flying to start the 2nd. Oswego was looking for more. The aggressiveness eventually caught up to the Lakers as the goal scorer, Daniel Colabufo picked up a penalty and headed to the box. Canton had their best opportunity of the game and needed to find the back of the net. Logan Kelly for the Kangaroos did just that. He beat Brandon Milberg to close the gap. Oswego wanted that 2 score gap and they wanted it bad. Oswego's Ryan Burke made that happen as 4 minutes later he scored. Canton wanted it close so that's what they did. It was Reilly McKinnon at even strength for the Kangaroos and just like that Oswego's lead was back to 1. The score was 3-2. Back and forth they went. Oswego would take that lead back up to 2 with a goal by Brandon Cohen, his second of the day. Then, Canton would respond with a goal of their own. It was Logan Kelly again for the Kangaroos. Offense was not lacking at all in this second period.
Teams would return back to earth and the score would remain 4-3 at the end of the second.

Both teams trying to take the knot out of the score were aggressive and shooting left and right. After a tripping call by Canton's Jackson Drysdale, Oswego was on the power play. Colin Vassallo got one to go on the 4-on-3. The lead was growing as it was 5-3 in favor of Ed Gosek's squad. Back to even strength but Oswego did not care. Colabufo would get another puck off his stick into the back of the net. Oswego was up 3 with about 5 minutes to go. The Lakers would score again and this time around they would have to bring out the hats. Brandon Cohen would pick up his third goal and complete the hat trick.  Oswego would win this showdown, 7-3.
