THE BASICS
Final Score:
Oswego 2 (12-7-3, 8-3-1 SUNYAC),
Buffalo State 4 (13-9-0, 7-4-0 SUNYAC)
Location: Buffalo, NY, Buffalo State Ice Arena

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers came out flying in the first period, and outshot the Bengals 23-17, pressing high and giving Buffalo no room to breathe. Despite this constant pressure, the Bengals broke through on a shot from a near impossible angle right past the glove of Brandon Milberg. The Bengals capitalized again with five minutes left in the first with a one-on-one breakaway against Brandon Milberg, again taking it on the glove side. The Lakers were able to net one themselves late in the first period, as Daniel Colabufo slid one past the blocker side, assisted by Colin Vassallo, but they headed in the break down 2-1.

The second period was extremely even from both sides, as neither team found any offensive success for the first eight minutes. After an interference call on Buffalo State, the Lakers found themselves a man up and capitalized, as Brandon Cohen hit a slap shot from the top of the zone, and slotted it home, tying up the game headed into the third period.

The Lakers and Bengals continued their battle into a third, and nobody could get the edge. That is until Buffalo was gifted with a 2-minute power play after an interference call on Jesse Horacek. The Bengals capitalized, ripping a beautifully placed slap shot into the top right corner of the net, and taking a 3-2 lead with 12 minutes to play. The Bengals would make it 4-2 just a few minutes later, after picking apart the Lakers. The Lakers would not find the net again, taking a loss against the Buffalo State Bengals.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will head back to Oswego, and host SUNY Cortland on Friday, February 14th at 7:00 PM in the Deborah F. Stanley Ice Arena.
