HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers came out strong in the first period, winning the opening faceoff and immediately applying pressure on the Mustangs. Oswego dominated possession for much of the period, outshooting Morrisville 37-5, and moving the puck strategically across the ice. Just four minutes in, Jesse Horacek opened the scoring with a well-executed goal, assisted by Travis Baker and Niklas Miller. The Mustangs struggled to regain control, as the Lakers' relentless play kept them on the defensive. Confident in their ability to control the game, and eager to score again, Oswego sent goalie Brandon Milberg to the bench temporarily to add an extra offensive player. Six minutes later, the Lakers capitalized on a power play as Aidan Cooper found the back of the net with help from Ryan Burke and Colin Vassallo. Less than a minute after that, Oswego added another goal, with Travis Baker scoring off back-to-back faceoff wins, assisted by Matt McQuade and Daniel Colabufo. The Lakers continued to dominate offensively, and with seven minutes remaining in the period, Horacek netted his second goal of the game. Just under a minute later, Adam Grenier scored the Lakers' fifth goal, assisted by Josh Simpson. Oswego capped off an impressive first period with a powerful shot from Drake Semrad, bringing the score to 6-0 as they headed to the locker room.
Oswego carried its offensive momentum into the second period, winning the faceoff and continuing to control possession. With Gavin McCarthy now in goal for the Lakers, he saw little action as Oswego remained dominant in the offensive zone. The Mustangs worked to cut into the deficit but struggled to break through, often left chasing the Lakers as they moved the puck with precision. About five minutes into the period, the pace shifted slightly as Oswego began to exchange possessions with Morrisville while maintaining a strong defensive presence. Seven minutes in, the Mustangs found their first goal of the game, cutting the deficit to 6-1. The intensity picked up from there, with an increase in physicality as checks became more frequent and players hit the ice. After a series of Oswego shots on goal, play was briefly halted when the Morrisville coach was ejected from the game, followed by a Mustangs penalty. The Lakers took advantage of the power play, with Connor Gatto firing in Oswego's seventh goal, assisted by Cam Symons and Matt McQuade. The period closed with the Lakers firmly in control, heading into the final frame with a 7-1 lead.

The Lakers returned to the ice for the third period with Anthony Zolezzi now in goal. The pace slowed compared to the previous period, as the Mustangs, visibly fatigued, continued struggling to keep up with Oswego's sharp passing and puck movement. Nearly six minutes in, the Lakers extended their lead on a power play after a flurry of shots and passes left a Mustangs player and their goalie without their sticks. Matt McQuade and Travis Baker set up Daniel Colabufo, who capitalized with a well-placed goal. The game remained controlled, with a few exchanged penalties but a noticeably slower tempo. As the clock wound down, the intensity picked up again, with Oswego maintaining possession and keeping the pressure on Morrisville's defense. With just over two minutes remaining, Colabufo struck again, netting his second goal of the period off an assist from Colin Vassallo to push the Lakers' lead to eight. Oswego closed out the game with a commanding 9-1 victory.
