Lakers Win in Dominant Fashion

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - The Oswego Lakers in game 2 out of 3 in Virginia came in extremely hot and got a mercy rule win over the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.

THE BASICS

Oswego 13 (6-3, 0-0 SUNYAC)

Virginia Wesleyan 2 (4-7, 0-4 ODAC)

Perry Field | Virginia Beach, VA

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Patrick May wasted no time getting the Lakers on the board with a 2 RBI single. Dylan Rosenburg and Daniel Winchester would score for Oswego. Virginia Wesleyan would respond as John Bastaains would rip an RBI single and close the gap to just 1. Oswego would lead 2-1.

  • Rosenberg had a base clearing double in the top of the second to give the Lakers 2 more runs. With him on third and a steal from Winchester, Rosenberg would be able to score because of the throw from the Marlins catcher, Cameron Mailloux. Oswego was running away with this one as they led by 4 early.

  • Ben Silverman would send an absolute bomb over the center field fence in the top of the 5th. 6-1 was the score.

  • In an attempt to get back in this one, Nick Valentin would hit a sacrifice fly and get a run home. Virginia Wesleyan closed the gap to only 4 in the bottom of the 6th.

  • Oswego would ultimately have a 7 run 7th inning to end this one in a mercy rule. It came from a Ben Silverman 2 RBI single, a Brendan Mair base clearing double, an Emil Sander 1 run single and an error on the Marlins that had the consequence of 2 runs crossing the plate for Oswego.

Luke Belanger's POTG : Ben Silverman (2 Hits, 3 RBIS, 1BB).
