HOW IT HAPPENED
Jai Sharma got the start on the mound, and after a quiet first inning for both teams, the Lakers found themselves with runners on second and third with no outs in the top of the second. Matt Carner doubled down the left field line, scoring Tishawn Featherstone and Patrick May. Carner stole third, and then made it home on a throwing error, improving Oswego's lead to 3-0 heading into the third inning.
CNU would get one back in the bottom of the third, making it a 3-1 game.
Will Coleman came in from the bullpen in the fourth, with runners on first and second and no outs, allowing just one more run to be scored, and taking the Lakers into the fifth ahead 3-2.
Matt Carner drove in another run in the sixth, this time with a single, bringing home Tishawn Featherstone, and giving the Lakers a 2-run cushion. This cushion didn't last long, however, as CNU scored 4 runs against LHP Alek Conrad, in the bottom of the sixth, taking a 6-4 lead.
In the top of the 8th, Trey McGowan hit a double to center field, driving home Patrick May, who was waiting on third base, making it a one run game going into the 9th.
Despite a valiant effort from the Lakers in the ninth, they were unable to tie things up and force extra innings, and walked out with a 5-6 loss
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Lakers will head back to New York, and take on SUNY Cortland this Friday, March 21st, at 3:00PM in Cortland, NY.
