Fredonia Takes Lead Late; Holds On vs Oswego

OSWEGO, NY. - The SUNY Oswego Baseball team hosted their first home conference game of the season against the Fredonia Blue Devils.

Fredonia  5  (8-4, 1-0 SUNYAC )

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1

Joel Hayner got the start for Oswego, and had a quiet first two innings defensively.

Benjamin Silverman attempted to steal second in the bottom of the second inning, which freed up Tishawn Featherstone, who ran home and scored, giving Oswego a 1-0 lead.

The Lakers doubled their lead to two in the third, as Daniel Winchester grounded out to second, driving home Anthony Barone.

In the top of the sixth, with runners on second and third, Fredonia tied things up off of a single to center field, which drove home both runners, making it 2-2.

Alek Conrad came in in the eighth to close out the game for the Lakers. But Fredonia had other plans, recording an RBI-single, making it 3-2. They would then extend their lead to 5-2, recording an RBI-double and an RBI single in the top of the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth, Tishawn Featherstone hit a sac fly, driving home Dylan Rosenburg to make it 5-3, but it wasn't enough, as the Blue Devils marched out of Oswego with their first SUNYAC victory of the year.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Lakers will be back in action tomorrow (Friday, March 28th), in Oswego with a double-header against Fredonia starting at noon.
