HOW IT HAPPENED
Rochester swept the doubles point with quick victories on all three courts. The Lakers' top pairing of Matt Mannara and Zach Demott fought hard at #1 doubles but fell 6-1 to Rochester's Alan Wang and Surya Rajamani. Oswego's #2 and #3 pairs—
Austin Davis/Miguel Garcia and
Tyler Yhun/
Colin Byer—each dropped their matches 6-0.
In singles play, Oswego looked to regroup but faced a relentless Rochester team that took straight-set wins on all six courts. At the top of the lineup, Mannara battled in the first set against Josh Chu, but couldn't find a rhythm in the second, ultimately falling 6-3, 6-0. Demott and Davis, playing at #3 and #2 respectively, also showed fight early but came up short against their opponents.
Colin Byer and Miguel Garcia each managed to pick up a game in the second set, but the Yellowjackets proved too steady throughout.
Tyler Yhun, competing at #6 singles, matched his teammate Mannara by taking three games in the first set, but was shut out in the second.
