OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego women's tennis team opened its 2025 season in dominant fashion, sweeping Alfred University 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Lakers Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lakers set the tone early in doubles play, earning a clean sweep across all three courts. The top duo of
Emily DeLuca and
Leah Bell rolled to a 6-1 victory at first doubles, while the pairing of
Avery Borman and
Sabrina Achki secured a 6-4 win at the second spot. Rounding out doubles,
Kate Hayes and
Isabella Eason controlled play for a 6-3 triumph at third doubles, giving Oswego a 3-0 lead heading into singles action.
Carrying momentum into singles, the Lakers didn't let up. At the top of the lineup, Borman battled to a straight-set victory, 6-2, 7-3, while Achki cruised at second singles with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win. Bell followed with a steady 7-5, 6-3 performance at third singles, and DeLuca added another straight-set victory at fourth, 6-4, 6-3.
Oswego's depth shined in the lower half of the lineup as well. Eason dominated her fifth singles match with a 6-2, 6-0 sweep, and Hayes closed out the day with a strong 6-3, 6-2 decision at sixth singles, completing the Lakers' season-opening shutout.
With the 9-0 win, the Lakers start the season 1-0 and will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming matches.
