HOW IT HAPPENED

The first set started off strong as the Lakers opened with serve and quickly claimed the first point on a kill from Priscilla McReynolds. Oswego carried that momentum to win five more points, highlighted by a kill from Alaina Dudzinski and a string of Elmira attack errors that forced an early timeout with the score at 6-0. Out of the break, Grace Gdovin delivered a service ace. Although Elmira got on the board with an Oswego error, the Lakers immediately responded with another McReynolds kill and a service ace from Lauren Cropp. The energy and communication on the court were high as Oswego extended its lead, prompting a second Elmira timeout after a dominant 10-point stretch that featured a kill from Gigi Basile, three kills from Kalley Vugteveen set up by Mya Bush, and a McReynolds service ace, along with several Eagle miscues, putting the Lakers ahead 18-3. Elmira found a rhythm late with a seven-point run to close the gap to 20-13, but Oswego settled back in, capitalizing on more errors while adding a McReynolds kill to close out the first set 25-14.

Oswego opened the second set strong, with Mya Bush setting up Grace Gdovin for the first kill. Elmira quickly answered with a kill of their own, but the Lakers kept control as Gdovin struck again, followed by four Elmira errors and a kill from Kalley Vugteveen to build a 7–1 lead. The Soaring Eagles tried to chip away, but kills from Vugteveen, Priscilla McReynolds, and Gigi Basile, paired with more Elmira mistakes, kept Oswego in front 13–8. The Lakers then pulled away with back-to-back scoring plays: two kills from Basile and another from Vugteveen. Gdovin added a service ace, followed by two Elmira attack errors, and then delivered another ace to make it 20–9. Elmira briefly regained serve off an Oswego error, but the Lakers quickly closed in with three more kills to reach set point at 24–11. Elmira managed one last kill, but Oswego shut the door with an Alaina Dudzinski kill to claim the set 25–12.

The third set opened with Oswego jumping to a 5–1 lead behind kills from Piper Adams and Alexandra Fairbanks, but Elmira quickly answered and tied it at 11–11 after a string of long rallies and Laker miscues. For the first time in the match, the Soaring Eagles grabbed the lead, forcing an Oswego timeout as they trailed 11–16. The Lakers responded with kills from Alaina Dudzinski and Samantha Madigan to cut the deficit to 14–16, but Elmira pushed back to take a 20–15 advantage. Down late, Oswego battled back behind two clutch kills from Priscilla McReynolds to make it 22–23, then surged to set point after back-to-back service aces by Lilaina Nelson. With momentum fully swung, Dudzinski sealed the comeback with a kill as the Lakers closed out the set 25–23 and secured the sweep.
