HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers opened the day against Stevens and were met with a deep and experienced lineup. Oswego battled through each weight class, but Stevens controlled the dual with several bonus-point victories, including multiple falls and technical falls that quickly built momentum. Despite the uphill battle, the Lakers continued to compete through the final bouts, gaining valuable experience against one of the top programs in the field.
Oswego returned to the mats against Ohio Northern later in the day and found a breakthrough at 157 pounds.
Steven Ventricelli turned in a composed performance, earning a 10–4 decision over Jovanni Greco to give the Lakers their lone win of the dual. Ohio Northern answered in the remaining weights, using bonus-point victories to secure the team result.
The Lakers closed Day 1 against UW–Stevens Point and got off to a strong start.
Juan Roque delivered Oswego's highlight of the day at 125 pounds, recording a first period fall just 2:16 into his bout to put the Lakers on the board early. Stevens Point responded with wins across the middle and upper weights, however, pulling away as the dual progressed.
WHAT'S NEXT
