Five Different Lakers Score in SUNYAC Road Win

Buffalo, NY. – The Lakers earned another SUNYAC win, this time on the road on Friday evening at Buffalo State by a score of 5-2.

THE BASICS
Oswego: 5 (10-2-1, 7-1 SUNYAC)
Buffalo State: 2 (6-8-1, 3-4-1 SUNYAC)
Buffalo State Ice Arena I Buffalo, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers wasted little time getting on the board, as Justin Ryan buried the game's opening goal just 1:59 into the first period. Buffalo State answered with a pair of even-strength tallies to take a brief lead, but Oswego refused to let momentum slip away. Nico Paone responded midway through the period, knotting the score at 2–2 and sending the teams to the locker room even after an energetic opening 20 minutes.

Oswego took firm control in the second period. Michael Urgo broke the deadlock at 7:02, finishing off a sequence generated by sustained offensive-zone pressure, and Matt McQuade followed less than three minutes later to give the Lakers a two-goal cushion. From there, Oswego dictated the pace, limiting Buffalo State's looks while consistently forcing play the other direction.

The third period belonged to the Lakers' defensive structure and goaltender Michael Manzi. Manzi turned aside all 13 shots he faced in the final frame, anchoring an effort that kept the Bengals off the scoreboard. Niklas Miller put the finishing touch on the night with an empty-net goal at 18:41 to seal the win.

Five different Lakers scored, underscoring Oswego's depth, while Aidan Cooper chipped in a pair of assists. The Lakers were flawless on the penalty kill, denying Buffalo State on all four power-play opportunities, and consistently won key battles in all three zones.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will stay on the road to take on the Fredonia Blue Devils tomorrow at 4:00 PM in Steele Hall Ice Arena.
