HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blue Devils came out of the gates firing as the first three shots of the game were all by them. Oswego was waiting for the perfect shot and that's what they got. It was
Matt McQuade and on the Lakers first shot, he found the back of the net. The Lakers quickly jumped on Fredonia and held a 1-0 lead. The Lakers stayed aggressive as they began to pick up some penalties. Oswego played well on the power play and Fredonia couldn't match the 1-0 lead despite the advantage. Fredonia started to shoot more and more and finally one got past Brandon Millberg. The Blue Devils used volume shooting to wear out the Lakers and knot it up at 1. The Lakers used the same approach as they also were shooting a lot as they ripped five shots in just over a minute of gameplay. The period closed,1-1, as this game was as even as can be.
Same story for the Lakers as the second period kicked off as they let 16 shots go in the first 6 minutes. Fredonia's Gavin Bloder got caught for slashing and Oswego had a power play.
Travis Baker for the Lakers would take full advantage of the 5-on-4 by scoring his fourth goal on the season. The rest of the period slowed down as both teams were sound on defense but couldn't find any offense. The Lakers found that offense they were looking for and It came short-handed and it was yet again
Travis Baker on the goal. Right before the intermission the Lakers created a comfortable,3-1, lead.
Just 4 minutes into the third period, Fredonia would crawl back into this and score again. Oswego, trying to get some insurance, kept the offense in full gear but Charles-Anthony Barbeau stayed disciplined and kept Oswego away from a goal. Just as Fredonia played good defense, Oswego matched that. The Lakers were able to fend off a last-minute rally to be victorious.
With the win, the Lakers move to 11-2-1 and 8-1 in conference play. This marks the 5th win in a row for Oswego and they haven't lost since December 6th.
WHAT'S NEXT
