Oswego, NY. – The Lakers men's wrestling team hosted the Ithaca Bombers in Max Ziel Gymnasium Saturday for their first home event of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ithaca struck early, picking up bonus points in three of the first four bouts. Oswego answered back in the middle weights, highlighted by an impressive performance at
157 pounds, where
Steven Ventricelli delivered one of the most exciting moments of the day. Ventricelli secured a hard-earned fall at 6:21 over Aaron Nelson, putting the Lakers on the board and energizing the home crowd.
The Bombers regained control at 165 and 174 with a major decision and a fall and continued to capitalize on bonus-point opportunities in the upper weights. Ithaca picked up pins at 197 and a major decision at heavyweight to extend its advantage.
Another bright spot for Oswego came at
184 pounds, where
Avery Canzano wrestled a composed and disciplined match, earning a
7–2 decision to secure three more team points for the Lakers. In the exhibition bouts, Oswego showed additional depth and competitiveness.
Collin Monell picked up a tight 13–11 decision at 157, while
Patrick David earned a convincing 10–2 major decision at 174, providing positives to build on moving forward.

The Lakers will now prepare for the SUNYAC tournament next weekend on January 24
th, hosted by SUNY Cortland.
