Late Rally Falls Short as Lakers Drop Shootout Heartbreaker to Williams

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers couldn't have scripted a better opening period. Ryan Burke struck just 51 seconds into the game, and Oswego kept its foot on the gas as Colin Vassallo and Tommy Bannister added goals before the 10-minute mark to give the home side a 3–0 lead and early control.

Williams, however, flipped the game early in the second period. Goals 20 seconds apart trimmed the deficit to one, and Jackson Krill's equalizer late in the frame erased Oswego's advantage entirely, sending the game into the third period tied 3–3.

Momentum swung again midway through the third as the Ephs capitalized on defensive-zone pressure, scoring twice in a five-minute span to take a 5–3 lead.
Oswego refused to fold.

With the net empty and a power play in hand, Niklas Miller pulled the Lakers within one at 18:19, blasting home a shot. Just 37 seconds later, Connor Gatto found space in front and buried the tying goal, igniting the crowd and forcing overtime.

Neither team could break through in the extra session, despite quality chances at both ends, and the game moved to a shootout.

In the shoot-out, Connor Gatto struck first for the Lakers and Fitzpatrick for Williams answered. The next two Lakers missed the mark and Williams buried the 6th shot of the shoot-out to seal the victory.
