Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lakers Fall In OT Nail Biter

Oneonta, NY. - The SUNY Oswego Men's Basketball hosted the Oneonta Red Dragons just one week after defeating them on the road. Looking to sweep them in the regular season, but the Red Dragons put up a fight and secured their place atop the SUNYAC with an 81-77 victory.

THE BASICS

Oswego   (12-3, 6-2 SUNYAC )

Oneonta    (9-6, 7-1 SUNYAC )

Location: Max Ziel Gymnasium | Oswego, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was an action-packed one, as the Lakers and Red Dragons traded leads from start to finish. Arthur Foster threw down a pair of two-handed slams to get the momentum going for Oswego, but Oneonta responded with a barrage of bench points to keep themselves in it. The Lakers went into the halftime break with a narrow 1-point lead, ahead 42-41, looking to sweep their conference opponents in the regular season.

The second half brought even more excitement, as both teams continued to battle it out. With lead changes in the second half, it was hard to tell exactly who would walk away on top. Oneonta's largest lead of the half was taken away in just moments, thanks to an Arthur Foster one-handed slam and a plethora of threes from Steven Bradley. Then, with just a minute remaining, Arthur Foster picked up a steal in full court press, delivering a game-tying layup at 72-72. Neither team would score for the remainder of regulation, as this one would head to overtime.

Steven Bradley's scoring would continue in overtime, as he scored the first five points, throwing all the momentum the way of the Lakers. But Oneonta's resilience would show out, as they clawed back, taking a one-point lead with 20 seconds remaining, and forcing the Lakers to foul. From there, it was a game of discipline, and the Red Dragons showed exactly that, drilling 4 straight free throws to secure an 81-77 victory over the Lakers.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Lakers will be back in action this Friday, January 23rd, where they are set to travel east to face the Buffalo State Bengals, with tip-off set for 7:30PM.
