Oneonta 52  (8-7, 3-5 SUNYAC )

Location: Max Ziel Gymnasium | Oswego, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first quarter of action started very back and forth, as the Lakers and Red Dragons battled it out, but neither team was able to put together much of a run until the final two minutes. From there, Oneonta went on a 7-0 run, headed into the first break ahead 17-10.

The Lakers came out hot in the second quarter, with Giavanna White-Principio and Sydney Hoefs leading the way. Principio finished the first half with 8 points, and Hoefs with 9, as the Lakers entered the break ahead 30-26.

In the third, the Lakers extended their lead further, dominating the rebound category with 10 to Oneonta's 7. Zhane Holmes added five points for the Lakers in the third, and the defensive prowess of Giavanna White-Principio added two huge blocks to shut down the Red Dragons offense. The Lakers went into the fourth on top 44-36.

Bri Weaver got things going for Oswego in the fourth with an early corner three, but Oneonta's full-court press was a hard one to break, as the Lakers turned the ball over twice in the first 3 minutes of the quarter. Zhane Holmes added another three with four left on the clock, extending her total for the night to 16 points. The Red Dragons tried to battle back, but it was too little too late, as the Lakers took this one by a score of 64-52.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Lakers will be back in action this Friday, January 23rd, where they are set to travel east to face the Buffalo State Bengals, with tip-off set for 5:30PM.
