HOW IT HAPPENED
Oswego wasted no time getting their offense in full effect in the 3rd minute of the game, Oswego found a hole in the Skidmore defense and got on the board first. Brendan Gillmore scored the goal for Oswego with the help of Matt McQuade and Brandon Cohen. Within a snap of a finger, the Lakers had a lead. Oswego's offensive mindset was present, but they also played well on the defensive side of the puck, as they didn't allow a shot on goal in the first 12 minutes. This good defense created opportunities for even better offense for the Lakers. In the 13th minute, Oswego scored yet again. This time it was off the stick of Connor Gatto and assisted by Adam Grenier. Gatto's impressive season continued as it was his 8th goal of the season. Oswego continued their shutdown defense for the remainder of the first period, but Skidmore did show a little more life post Laker goal. Although, more shots on goal for the Thoroughbreds, Michael Manzi kept a clean sheet through 20 for Oswego.

Just as the first period started, Oswego came out quickly with fast paced and efficient offense. Skidmore, caught off guard, wasn't able to keep up with the pace of the Lakers and Ryan Burke struck while the iron was hot. Burke found the back of the net for his fourth goal on the season. The Lakers held a comfortable, 3-0 lead. Neither team could find much offense for the rest of the period. Skidmore's offensive urgency was apparent, but Oswego stayed disciplined and sound on defense for another 0 on Skidmore's side of the scoreboard.

The thoroughbreds took a page out of Oswego's book and got on the board early in the third period. Daniel Urban was the goal scorer for Skidmore as they inched closer to the Lakers. In the 8th minute, Skidmore had a chance to cut the lead even more with a power play. Although shots were playing during these two minutes, Oswego was able to kill it off. Towards the end of the period, Oswego got a 5-on-4 of their own and unlike the Thoroughbreds, Oswego capitalized. Tommy Bannister snuck one past the goalie for Oswego's fourth goal of the night. Exactly one minute later, Oswego was off the power play, but it didn't matter. Connor Gatto got his second goal of the night to go and the Lakers were in full control of this contest. The final buzzer sounded as Oswego picked up their 7th win in a row.
