HOW IT HAPPENED
Plattsburgh jumped on the Lakers quickly. In the first minute, the Cardinals got the scoring going. Alexandro Moliner for Plattsburgh got the goal to go and Oswego was in an early deficit. Just two minutes later, the Cardinals did it yet again. This time it was Spencer Bellina. Plattsburgh shocked the Lakers early as they held a two-goal advantage with not even three minutes coming off the clock. A little later in the period, Plattsburgh would be granted their first power play of the night. Oswego, needing a kill to stay in this one, got the job done and gained some much-needed momentum. In the 10th minute, the Lakers struck. Matt McQuade found the back of the net and inched Oswego one goal closer. Offense slowed down for the remainder of the period, but both teams were very highly energized and seemed ready for battle.

This second period was an offensive barrage. It started with a quick goal by Plattsburgh's Quinn Tavares to extend their lead to two. Shortly after, the Cardinals really started to pull away with this one as they scored yet again. Felix-Antoine Parenteau was the culprit and Oswego was behind 4-1. Oswego kept Plattsburgh off the shots and was able to turn it into some offense. Oswego, although short-handed, would show some life as Tommy Bannister gave Oswego their second goal of the night. Two minutes later the Lakers were at even strength and Connor Gatto stunned the Cardinals by scoring yet again. Just like that, Oswego was right back in this game. Just a minute and half later, Oswego scored another goal to evaporate the Plattsburgh lead. Josh Simpson was the goalscorer and it was now a tie game at four. Oswego would close off this masterclass of second period with a last second goal. Just as time expired, Matt McQuade shot and scored.

Both teams were evidently tired from the wild second period as both offenses looked stagnant. Brandon Milberg really turned it on as he recorded 11 saves in this final period. This period ended with no goals scored as Oswego did exactly what they needed to do. After an impossible comeback made possible by the Lakers, they hopped right on defense and made sure to keep the lead. Oswego went on to win this contest, 5-4, to sweep the Plattsburgh season series.
