How it Happened
This evening's match started off on even footing with both the Lakers and the Knights trading possessions and shots on goal in the 1st period. A series of shots on goal and a won faceoff for Oswego resulted in an offensive overload that the Knights couldn't contain, leading to the Laker's first goal of the evening and season, shot by Helen Vandamme and assisted by
Jenna Majewski. The Knights, not looking to fall behind, pressed hard, rattling off 6 shots on goal within 3 minutes, with the Oswego defense holding steady and not allowing any goals. The Lakers and Knights continued to trade possessions and shots, but the score would remain 1-0 in Oswego's favor to end the 1st period.

The beginning of the 2nd continued similar to the ending of the 1st, with both the Lakers and Knights trading shots on goal with their respective defenses continuing to keep the score stagnant. Oswego looked to press hard early in the 2nd sending 6 consecutive shots on goal towards Arcadia's net, but none converting. Arcadia responded a few minutes later, picking up their offense halfway through the 2nd to no avail. 14 minutes into the 2nd, Oswego's first power play for the night began, but Arcadia held their ground. Oswego got another chance at a power play within the last minute of the 2nd, but again wasn't able to convert, heading into the 3rd with the score still at 1-0.
Â
Again, the Lakers start off the 3rd looking to press Arcadia's defense, sending 9 shots the Knight's way within the first 8 minutes of play. Arcadia was finally able to put themselves up on the board after a goal following a series of hyper offense, making the score an even 1-1 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd. The Lakers weren't able to regain their lead, sending the game into overtime.
Â
Only a minute into overtime,
Georgia Cunliffe, assisted by Helen Vandamme, was able to put the puck in the back of Arcadia's net, ending the tight, overtime thriller for Oswego's first win of the season.
