Del Pere, Wisc. -- Oswego Men's Ice Hockey dropped their second game of the season in a clash of ranked foes by a score of 4-1 on Halloween afternoon.
THE BASICS
Final Score:
#12 Oswego State: 1 (1-1-0, 0-0 SUNYAC)
#4 St. Norbert: 4 (1-1-0, 0-0 NCHA)
Location: Del Pere, Wisconsin | Schneider Family Arena
HOW IT HAPPENED
Competitive play through the first 19:30 of the first period kept the game scoreless for both teams, however the Green Knights broke through on home ice just prior to the end of the period, giving St. Norbert the lead heading into the first period break. Goaltender Michael Manzi played a key role, making 13 saves in the first frame to keep the score 1-0 and within reach. Despite St. Norbert going on the powerplay five times in the first period, Oswego's stout defense kept them in it.
St. Norbert added to their lead twice in the second period, and added a fourth halfway through the third period, the latter of which being on the power play before the Lakers answered thanks to Colin Vassallo, scoring on the power play to prevent the shutout with just under four minutes to go in the third period.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego returns home from Wisconsin to face off in a tough test against Geneseo at home on Friday, November 6th, where it is also Military Appreciation Night. Puck drop for the Lakers and Knights is set for 7:00 P.M.
