Oswego N.Y. - SUNY Oswego has announced
Connor Gatto from men's ice hockey and
Jayna Laferriere from women's swimming and diving as the student-athletes of the Month for January recognizing their outstanding performances throughout the month.
Connor Gatto was named Student-Athlete of the Month after a strong offensive month that consistently sparked the Lakers. In 10 games, Gatto posted seven goals and five assists for 12 points, providing a reliable scoring presence and finishing chances at a high level. His performance earned him SUNYAC Athlete of the Week honors and reflected his impact in key moments throughout the month.
The Lakers will return to action Friday February 6
th when they travel to take on #1 Hobart at 7:00 PM.
Jayna Laferriere was named Student-Athlete of the Month after an exceptional run in the pool, turning in dominant performances across four meets. She captured first place three times in the 50 free and swept the 100 free with four first-place finishes, while also winning the 200 free twice and the 500 free once. Laferriere was a key contributor to relay success as well, helping lead the Lakers to four wins in the 200-medley relay along with victories in the 300 medley and 400 free relays. Her standout month was capped by earning SUNYAC Athlete of the Week honors, highlighting her consistency and impact.
Lakers swimming and diving is on a short break until the SUNYAC Championships starting February 18
th.
