Oswego, NY – The SUNYAC has officially announced the end of year awards for Women's Swimming and Diving.
Jayna Laferriere from the Lakers has been named the Women's Swimmer of the Year!
The senior standout from Burnt Hills, N.Y. capped off a dominant season in the pool with a performance worthy of conference-wide recognition, earning Women's Swimmer of the Meet honors at the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships. She led the Lakers with a trio of first place finishes in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle events, setting a new Oswego program record in the 50 free while showcasing her versatility across sprint and mid-distance races. She also played a pivotal role as the anchor leg of the Lakers' 400 freestyle relay team, helping secure a second-place finish. Her success extended well beyond the championship meet, as she consistently topped the podium in dual competition, sweeping the 50 and 100 free against Potsdam, Cortland, Fredonia, and Berry College, while adding multiple-event victories against Roberts Wesleyan, Brockport, and Hobart and William Smith. A two-time First Team All-SUNYAC selection (2025, 2026), her sustained excellence throughout the season solidified her as one of the premier swimmers in the conference.
