Lakers Drop Road Game at Oneonta

Oneonta, NY - The Oswego men's lacrosse team traveled to Oneonta, NY on Saturday afternoon to take on the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons in a SUNYAC matchup.

Basics
Oswego 10 (8-4, 2-3 SUNYAC)
Oneonta 20 (7-7, 4-1 SUNYAC)

How it Happened
The game started with a huge faceoff win from the Red Dragons to give them possession to start the game. A turnover sent it the other way and the Lakers struck first with a goal from Garrett Elston to make it 1-0. Nick Spinner quickly netted another one on a man-up opportunity to put the Lakers up 2-0. The Red Dragons soon responded with their first goal of the game to make it 2-1, but Austin Sroda got on the board right off the next faceoff to put the Lakers back up by two. The Red Dragons then proceeded to go on a six goal scoring streak to make the game 3-7 with a short amount of time left in the 1st. Hayden Coney responded with a goal of his own making it 4-7 Red Dragons to end the 1st.

The Red Dragons opened up the scoring in the 2nd with a relatively quick goal making it 4-8. Logan Postel quickly followed by getting on the scoreboard making it 5-8. Doryn Leclair capitalized on another man-up opportunity to cut the deficit down to two. Both defenses were making solid stands during the 2nd and keeping the ball out of the net, but the Red Dragons offense quickly picked up the pace midway through. The Red Dragons proceeded to go on three goal run making it 6-11 to end the first half.

The Red Dragons kept their foot on the gas to open up the 2nd half. They opened up the 3rd going on a four goal scoring streak making it 6-15. Ethan McConnell soon responded with a goal making it 7-15 and giving the Lakers some life. It was not long before the Red Dragons went on another three goal run to end the 3rd 7-18.

The 4th quarter started slow with both goalies standing tall in net and coming up with some huge saves. Seamus Hand really fought hard trying to keep this Laker team alive. Leclair ended up getting on the board again making it 8-18 Red Dragons. A nice two goal run from Ryan Behringer got the Lakers going late in the 4th and made it a 10-18 game. However, the Red Dragon offense quickly responded by going on a two goal run of their own finishing the game 10-20 Red Dragons.
