HOW IT HAPPENED
Cortland drew first blood in the top of the first as Tristan Gatchalian singled up the middle to send in Talon Elkins who doubled beforehand. The Red Dragons held an early 1-0 lead.
Oswego got that run right back when Ryan Mayer was on second and Brogan Olsen hit a clutch RBI single up the middle. It was Olsen's 12th RBI of the season and the game was knotted at one.
The second inning came with nothing as both teams went 1-2-3. Cortland didn't let that happen again as they put two on the board in the third. A groundball to shortstop followed by a throwing error allowed two Red Dragons to cross the plate. Cortland quickly had a two run lead.
The Lakers cleaned the defense up as Cortland went 1-2-3 for the next four innings. Oswego finally was able to rally back into the game in the seventh. Ryan Mayer, with a run earlier, got a pair of RBIs this time around. A single to right field scored T.J Harrington and Ricky Fasitta. Oswego with excellent defense and the offense shining through, tied it up at three.
The Laker defensive master class didn't end as the next two innings, Cortland only tallied one hit. Extras were upon us and Cortland showed up in a big way. In the top of tenth, the Red Dragons took advantage of a wild pitch by the Lakers and were able to take the lead back. Although two people on base for Oswego in the bottom of the tenth, they weren't able to capitalize and Cortland walked away with a win.
WIN - Zack Zarilli (1-0)
LOSS - Matthew Drillings (1-2)
SAVE - Tommy Lynch (2)
