Oswego opened the day with a strong showing in doubles play, taking two of three matches to secure the early point. The first doubles pair of
Colin Byer and
Zach Triantafillou set the tone with a 6-3 victory, while Miguel Garcia and
Connor Tutor delivered a dominant 6-0 win at third doubles. Houghton managed to grab the second doubles match, but the Lakers carried a 1-0 advantage into singles competition.
In singles play, Oswego saw standout performances at the top of the lineup.
Cole Lyons was sharp at No. 1 singles, cruising to a straight-sets win (6-0, 6-3), while Garcia continued his strong day with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Those wins put the Lakers in position to clinch the match, but Houghton responded with depth across the middle and lower flights.
Houghton secured victories at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 singles in straight sets to swing momentum, setting up a deciding match at No. 6. In a tightly fought three-set battle, Oswego's
Cole Fleming took the opening set 6-1, but Houghton's Caleb Hilsher battled back to claim the second set in a tiebreak before edging the decisive super tiebreak 10-7 to seal the match for the visitors.
