How it Happened

Game 1

After a scoreless first inning for both teams, Brendan Mair got the Lakers on the board in the top of the 2nd with a solo homerun giving Oswego a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 3rd, it was Rosenberg who extended the Lakers lead with a homerun of his own followed by a 2 RBI double by Mair and the Lakers ended the 3rd with a 4-0 lead.

The Lakers continued to add runs in the 6th when Daniel Winchester singled home Hudson Meyer, then, Rosenberg hit his second homerun of the day, this time a 3-run shot boosting the Lakers to an 8-0 lead.

Mason Sands got the start on the mound for the Lakers and delivered another great performance going 6 complete innings allowing just 1 run. Aiden Kerr came in for 3 innings of relief allowing just 1 hit and striking out 3 earning a 3 inning save.

Cortland's only run of the game came in the 6th inning before Oswego added a run in the 8th and 2 in the 9th to get us to our final score of 11-1.

Defensively, the Lakers shined. Especially in the bottom of the 7th and 8th inning which both ended on a strike out – throw out play at the plate and second base.

Game 2

The Red Dragons jumped out to an early lead over the Lakers scoring 2 runs in the 2nd, and 4 runs in the 5th. The Lakers were held at bay by the Cortland pitching staff who gave up only 3 hits to the Lakers through 6 innings.

After Cortland added two more runs in the bottom of the 6th, Oswego broke down the door with a solo home run from TJ Harrington in the top of the 7th. Cortland unfortunately answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.

In the top of the 8th, Oswego began to threaten after a Rosenberg doubled, Harry Uvena singled, and then pinch hitter Andrew Dempsey hit an RBI double. Uvena scored on a Ricky Fasitta ground out, and Dempsey scored on a single from Harrington. Oswego was then down 9-4.

Once again Cortland answered in the bottom of the 8th and Oswego scored their final run of the game in the top of the 9th on an RBI single from Jaxson Mayo.

Shearer was on the mound to start for Oswego and went 5 complete innings earning his first loss of the season. The bullpen of Goble, Klinger, Small and Moccio combined for 4 innings allowing 5 runs.

What's Next
The Lakers and Red Dragons will face off tomorrow at 2:00 PM in Cortland with the SUNYAC Title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
