OSWEGO, N.Y. – The SUNY Oswego men's and women's cross country teams have unveiled their 2026 competition schedule, featuring 6 meets across five states as the Lakers prepare for another fall campaign highlighted by championship competition in October and November.
The season gets underway on Sept. 5 as the Lakers welcome teams from around the region for the annual Oswego Invitational, giving both squads an opportunity to open the year on their home course.
One week later, Oswego heads to Syracuse to compete in the Le Moyne Invitational before traveling to Greenwich, N.Y., for the RPI Invitational on Sept. 26. The early-season slate provides the Lakers with a pair of competitive regional meets as they continue to build toward championship season.
The month of October opens with one of the premier races in Division III as Oswego travels to Lehigh University for the prestigious Paul Short Run on Oct. 2. The nationally recognized event annually attracts many of the top programs in the country and serves as a key measuring stick midway through the season.
Following the trip to Pennsylvania, the Lakers head to Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J., for the Rowan Invitational on Oct. 17 before turning their attention to the postseason.
Conference championship season begins on Oct. 31 when Oswego competes at the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships in Oneonta, where both teams will look to contend for conference honors and qualify individuals for regional recognition.
The postseason continues on Nov. 14 at the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships in Houghton, N.Y. Runners earning qualifying performances at the regional meet will advance to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, scheduled for Nov. 21 in Minnesota.
