FREDONIA, N.Y. — In the second day of the Fredonia Tournament, Oswegos lost to Utica 2-1 on Saturday. The Lakers withstood four Utica attacking actions from 70:31 to 80:13 without conceding but could not overcome the one-goal deficit.

How it Happened
The Lakers responded to Utica's 18:47 goal when
Julia Carter scored from
Kyla Sustad at 19:03, bringing the match level at 1-1. Earlier, SUNY Oswego absorbed early Utica pressure that included a shot off the left woodwork, two corner kicks and another shot high by 7:05 without conceding. The Lakers put three shots on goal after Carter's equalizer, including two by Sustad, and the first half ended tied 1-1.
SUNY Oswego spent the second half chasing after Samantha Ferguson scored for Utica in the 57th minute, assisted by Ella Dischiavo, putting the visitors ahead 2-1.
Lucy Starzyk kept the Lakers within one with three saves from 70:31 to 80:13, stopping two Natalia Bell shots and one from Lily Martin during a stretch that also included a Utica corner kick.
Sabrina Schmitt and
Alison Dimitrijevski each put a shot on goal, but Utica held on for the 2-1 final.
