SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces its Spry Athletes of the Week after week two of the 2026 fall season. Eleven student-athletes from five different institutions are being acknowledged for their achievements during competition last week.
Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week – Noah Melita, Oswego
Melita has been named the SUNYAC Men's Runner of the Week after winning the 6K at the Division I Le Moyne Invitational on Saturday with a time of 19:45.1. He finished more than 30 seconds ahead of any Le Moyne runner.
Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week – Kyra Pellegrino, Oswego
Pellegrino repeats as the SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Runner fo the week after she won the Division I Le Moyne Invitational on Saturday with a time of 15:10.2. The victory marks her second consecutive individual win, following her first-place finish at the Oswego Invitational. This is the second week in a row Kyra has earned this honor!
Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week – Ian Husselbeck, Oswego
Husselbeck continues his hot start to the season leading Oswego offense. On Monday at Utica, he scored their lone goal on a penalty kick on their way to a draw. Then on Saturday at home against RPI he scored the game winning just 6 minutes into play. He has 4 goals on the season so far which is tied for the most in the SUNYAC.
Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week – Avery Borman, Oswego
Borman continues at the No. 1 singles spot for the Lakers and picked up two wins this weekend. First she took down her Utica opponent (6-1, 6-1), then at Brockport she won again (6-3, 6-3).
