HOW IT HAPPENED
Wesleyan started the game in control, as they got out to a quick 7-1 lead over the Lakers.
Lilaina Nelson and
Priscilla McReynolds sparked the Laker offense with back-to-back kills to bring the Lakers closer.
Alexandra Fairbanks also grabbed a point in the first set but ultimately the Cardinals continued solid play and took set one, 25-9.
The second set started much like the first. McReynolds and Nelson had a kill each early as well two service aces from McReynolds. The Lakers were only down, 10-8 before the Cardinals had a big push to extend their lead to seven.
Chloe Arnaiz got in on the action to give the Lakers some life, having two kills late in the set. Wesleyan took set two, 25-14.
Set three was much closer.
Gigi Basile kicked things off nicely with a kill at the hands of
Taylor Galligan. McReynolds kept her good game going picking up a kill to tie the set score at seven. Arnaiz would pick up two more kills to bring her game total to five. Oswego kept pushing with kills by
Sabine Smithwick and
Samantha Madigan but again, the Wesleyan offense was too much as they swept the Lakers.
