Oswego, NY- A second-half goal from Luna Catano-Matip lifted the Oswego State Women's Soccer team to a 2-1 win over SUNY Geneseo at home.

How it Happened
Geneseo struck first in the opening half, but Oswego State answered right back when the Lakers forced an own goal off a corner kick to level the score at 1-1 in the 42nd minute.

The two sides traded chances through a scrappy second half, with Geneseo goalkeeper Emily McLouth turning away shots from Julia Carter on multiple occasions to keep the game level. But in the 59th minute, the Lakers found their breakthrough. Sophomore Luna Catano-Matip buried a low shot to the left corner for the go-ahead goal, assisted by her sister, Solange Catano-Matip.

The Lakers held on through a frantic final stretch, as Geneseo hit the crossbar and tested Oswego keeper Lamia Kosick twice more before time expired to close out the 2-1 victory.

This was the Lakers first home victory over Geneseo since 1999!

What's Next
Oswego State will look to carry their momentum into a road matchup against Alfred University on September 11th, in Fredonia, NY at University Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:30 PM.
