The commitment to career development incorporates each of the other facets of the Student-Athlete Affairs Program through emphasis on the student-athlete's life beyond college. Career development begins the moment the student-athlete arrives at Oswego and continues after graduation. Strategies include the PED 295 Life Skills class, interest assessments, career workshops and other support offerings.
The athletics department also works with the Office of Career Services (145 Campus Center, x2255) to bolster student-athlete success after graduation. All students are encouraged to utilize this office's services and programs, which include a career library, computerized career decision-making system, computer resume preparation, interviewing techniques, job listings, advisement for graduate-school applications and reference folder mailings. Visit the Career Services Website for more information.
Career-based information is available to all students at SUNY Oswego. Athletics refreshes this information for all student-athletes by suggesting resume submission through Oswego's "Optimal Resume" on-line tool, utilizing Career Services Navigator's for help with their resume, and other valuable tools and opportunities for career related growth through the Career Services Office. Making a connection with Career Services is an important piece for all students while preparing for their future.
