Frank Paino

Frank Paino

Frank Paino has been at the helm of Laker baseball program since 1987 building a career record of 492-354-1, continuing the standards set by former coaches Max Ziel and Walt “Doc” Nitardy. Paino is a 1982 graduate of Coastal Carolina where he played on successful baseball teams that made four regional and two World Series appearances.

At Oswego State, Paino's teams have been invited to post-season play in 14 of his 25 years. His Lakers have won eight SUNYAC West and three SUNYAC Championship titles and been to the ECAC Championships on eight occasions, winning twice and placing second three times. In addition, Paino has been named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 1988, 1989, 1996, and 2001.

During his tenure, the Lakers have set Division III records for double plays per game and home runs per season. Paino's teams have also set Laker records in team fielding percentage, doubles per game, home runs in a season, and strikeouts per game.

In the 2001 season, Paino earned his 300th victory and won his 400th game during the 2007 season. Paino also serves as the Strength Training Coordinator at the varsity weight room.
