Brendan Fitzpatrick begins his First Season as Assistant Coach with the Oswego State Men’s Basketball coaching staff.
Fitzpatrick joins the Lakers after spending two seasons as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at SUNY Cortland. In both seasons, Fitzpatrick assisted Cortland to playoff appearances. In the 2022-2023 season, he assisted them to the semifinals with a 19-8 record (13-5 in conference). While at Cortland, he coached 2x All American and SUNYAC Player of the Year Austin Grunder, and recruited the 2022-2023 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in Aaron Coston.
His roles included the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, assisting in practice plans, scouting and game preparation. Other duties assigned were film operations, player development, and managing the team's social media efforts.
As an undergraduate student at SUNY Cortland, Fitzpatrick had a four-year playing career (2016-2020) with the Red Dragons. Three of those years he was a starter and one as a Team Captain.
During his Senior Year in 2019-20, Fitzpatrick earned third-team All-SUNYAC honors after averaging 10.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. He led the conference in assists per game, 3-point shooting percentage (51.5) and free throw percentage (86.3), and he set the Cortland school single-season record for 3-point percentage. Fitzpatrick twice tied the school single-game record with 12 assists, and he ranked in the top 40 nationally in Division III in assists, free throw percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.46-to-1, 4th nationally).
The Plainview, N.Y. native graduated from Cortland in 2020 with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management.
