Oswego State Athletics

Derrick Cahill joined the Oswego State Men's Basketball program in September 2021. 

Previously, Derrick was on the coaching staff at Nazareth College the last four seasons as a Student Assistant Coach. Derrick earned a Bachelor's degree from Nazareth College majoring in Psychology and minoring in Communication and Media. He will also be earning his masters degree at Oswego State in Strategic Communication.

During his time at Nazareth, Derrick was very involved with the men's basketball program, his roles expanded each year. These roles included recruiting, scouting, game and practice preparation, social media management, fundraising, community service, marketing and game promotions and more. 

During his tenure, the Nazareth program has had a great deal of success, achieving multiple conference championships—one conference tournament championship in 2020 and two regular season conference championships in 2018 and 2020 hosting the Empire 8 Championships for the first time in program history. Nazareth also advanced to the Division III NCAA Tournament in 2018. 

Derrick has also been a consistent camp coach and counselor throughout the last four years at Oswego State University, LeMoyne College, Cornell University, Harvard University, University of Rochester,  St. Lawrence University, and Nazareth College. 

Derrick graduated from Oswego High School, and was born and raised in Oswego NY.
