Robert Friske begins his third year as head coach of the Oswego State men's tennis team in 2012-13 after previously serving as the interim head coach in 2009. Friske has six years of head men's tennis coaching experience as he was the head men's tennis coach at Keuka College from 2003-25 and at Norwich University from 1999-2002. During those six seasons, Friske guided his squads to five conference playoff appearances at both schools. He also recently completed his sixth season at the helm of the Laker men's soccer team.
Coach Friske is a 1991 graduate of Plattsburgh State, earning a degree in Business and a minor in Athletic Coaching. While at Plattsburgh, he was a four-year defender for the Cardinals. He later earned a Master's Degree in 1995 from SUNY Brockport, majoring in Athletic Administration.
Friske is active in the community and college, as he teaches courses as part of a coaching minor offered by the college. He has previously taught at the Sheldon Institute and has directed soccer camps in New York and Vermont. Friske is also a current United States Tennis Association member.
