Brian McGrane came to Oswego State after serving as the head coach at Elmira College in 2006, where he also served as the Director of Intramurals. Prior to his position with Elmira, he served as an assistant for the men’s soccer programs at both Plattsburgh State and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College in North Carolina.

McGrane is a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh where he earned All-America honors in 2001 as a midfielder.  In 2001, he was also voted SUNYAC Player of the Year and the Plattsburgh State Male Athlete of the Year. He was a four-time First Team All-Region honoree and one of only three SUNYAC men's soccer players all-time to be a four-time First Team All-SUNYAC player during their career.
