Oswego, N.Y. – Brendyn Karinchak of the men’s baseball team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 6, 2014.

Karinchak had an impressive outing in New Paltz, N.Y. as the baseball team had a doubleheader against the Hawks on Saturday afternoon. The junior led the Lakers to a win in the first game of the doubleheader split as he threw a shutout from the mound.

In nine innings, the Walden native allowed only nine hits, zero runs scored, walked one Hawk and proceeded to strike out five others. Oswego State drove in four runs while Karinchak held the Hawks down defensively for 4-0 victory.

The Lakers then played the Hawks again on Sunday afternoon where they moved to .500 in league play with a 7-6 walk-off win on the road. Oswego State Baseball improved their record to 11-5 overall on the year, and 3-3 in SUNYAC action.
