OSWEGO, N.Y. - Alex Botten of the men's hockey team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on February 15, 2015.

Botten collected four points in a big two-win weekend that moved Oswego into sole possession of first place in the SUNYAC.

In Friday's 3-1 defeat of Brockport, the Newmarket native assisted on the Lakers first goal before scoring the eventual game-winner. Botten continued to show his offensive prowess during the following days game against Geneseo, scoring a goal and recording an assist on another.

The sophomore currently ranks No. 2 in the nation in assists and tied for eighth in total points. Botten also has the most assists on the team this year (25) and the second most points (34).

Men's ice hockey returns to the Marano Campus Center Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday as it hosts rival Plattsburgh to kick-off Whiteout Weekend.
