OSWEGO, N.Y. – Leslie Usherwood of the women’s tennis team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 10, 2016.
In a week that saw the team go 1-1, Usherwood picked up two wins against Wells on Saturday to help lead the team to a 6-3 victory. Oswego controlled the doubles play in its match against Wells, winning each of the three doubles matches. Usherwood aided in the effort, pairing with sophomore Jill Travis to take second doubles by a score of 8-5.
The senior followed up her doubles performance with a dominate win in third singles. After the Lakers dropped the first two singles matches, Usherwood came through with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, all but ensuring an Oswego victory.
Women’s tennis will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday when it travels to Le Moyne College for its final match of the spring season.
