Oswego State Athletics

Evan Corso of the wrestling team was named Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 15, 2017.

Corso turned in an impressive performance over the weekend at the Budd Whitehill Duals. The freshman wrestled to a 4-1 record with his only loss by a 6-4 decision to Ryan Flynn from York College (PA) the nation's No. 2 wrestler in the 133-lb weight class.

In his other two matches on Friday, Corso defeated Brad Taton from No. 20 Ohio Northern University by an 8-3 decision, before pinning Nick DeRosa from Springfield. On Saturday, the freshman continued his strong performance with a 16-8 major decision over Isaiah Ocasio from RIT and then wrapped up competition by recording a forfeit win.

Wrestling will return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when they travel to Brockport for a dual match.
