OSWEGO, N.Y. – Kevin Hylas of the baseball team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on May 6. Hylas dominated at the plate over six games with a batting average of .636, ultimately helping Oswego to its second consecutive SUNYAC title. The senior notched multiple hits in every one of the contests.
Prior to the SUNYAC Championship, Hylas opened the week by taking part in Oswego’s 34-12 slugfest against St. John Fisher. Hylas drove in four runs on three hits, including a double.
The Stony Point, N.Y. native continued to excel during the SUNYAC Championship. Hylas collected two hits in each of the first four games, and ended the week with a three-hit performance to clinch the title for Oswego. On the week, Hylas drove in nine runs and scored seven. For his efforts, Hylas was named the SUNYAC Tournament MVP.
Hylas and the baseball team advance to the NCAA tournament with their conference title. Oswego’s tournament placement will be announced at 11:59 p.m. on May 13.
