OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Lynsey Roth – of the women’s soccer team – has been named Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9. The sophomore registered two goals on the Lakers victorious weekend with wins over Grove City College and D’Youville College in the Fredonia Blue Devils Tournament.
On Friday, trailing 1-0 in the second half, Roth scored off of an assist from Audrey Burbridge, bouncing the ball over the goalkeeper’s head to tie it 1-1 just before minute 48. The Lakers went on to win the contest, 2-1 over Grove City. Saturday, less than 10 minutes before half time, Roth scored her second goal of the weekend to give the Lakers a 1-0 edge against D’Youville, en route to their 2-0 win.
As the Lakers were crowned champions of the tournament, Roth was named as a member of the All-Tournament team and Tournament MVP for her performances.
The sophomore now has four goals on her career in her second season at Oswego State. She and the Lakers return to Laker Soccer Field at 1 p.m. Friday as they host St. Lawrence University.
