The Oswego State men's soccer team opened the home portion of its schedule falling to Alfred University by the score of 3-1 on Wednesday, September 15th at the South Athletic Complex.
The loss put the Lakers at 2-3 on the year, while the Saxons won their third straight game to improve to 3-2-1.
Alfred opened the scoring 13:57 into the game as Adam Long (Bath) scored unassisted. The Saxons added another goal to the lead by the end of the half as Bobby Linaberry (Manlius) scored his fourth goal in his last two games. Stephen Robin (Foster, RI) assisted that goal.
Oswego State pulled to with in 2-1 as Alfred inadvertently knocked the ball into its own net seven minutes into the second half. The Saxons regained the two-goal advantage late in the game. Brian Donahue (Elmira) recorded the third Alfred goal with Keith Phalen (Baldwin) collecting the assist.
In goal for Oswego State, Greg Keenan (Warsaw) finished with two saves.
For Alfred, Jim Roberts (Syracuse) made one save in just over 30 minutes of play, while starter Brian Middleton (Baldwinsville) didn't make any stops.
The Lakers will be home again on Saturday, September 18th hosting Hamilton College in a 3 p.m. start.
