The Oswego State men's soccer team netted the game's only goal as the Lakers earned a 1-0 victory over visiting Union College on Sunday, Sept. 19, at the South Athletic Complex.
Junior Paul Palucci (Liverpool) netted the winning goal 7:42 into the game as he knocked in a pass from D.J. Long (Fairport).
Oswego State goalie John Spuhler (Fulton) earned the shutout making five saves, while Union keeper Kevin O'Connor (Reston, VA) finished with four stops.
The Dutchmen nearly forced overtime in the closing minutes, but Kelvin Martinez's (Garifuna, Honduras) shot from within the Laker penalty area rolled just wide of the near post.
Oswego State is now 3-4 on the season, while Union fell to 4-2.
The Lakers will be home again on Friday, Sept. 24, as they begin SUNY Athletic Conference play hosting Geneseo at 4 p.m.
