The Oswego State softball team earned a split with Fredonia using a rally in the first game for a win and then nearly pulling off a second in the nightcap.

The Lakers scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth innings to win the opening game 4-1 and then fell 7-5 after scoring three times in the top of the seventh inning. The split puts Oswego State at 9-7 overall while going to 3-3 in the SUNY Athletic Conference. The Blue Devils are now 9-14 and 4-6 in the conference.

In the opening game, the Lakers trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth before Julie Barlow (Canastota) tied the game with a sacrifice fly to center field. Missy Constanza (Hannibal) then plated what turned out to be the winning run as she doubled in Willow Eyres (Selkirk). Oswego State then added two more runs in the inning to secure the win.

Heather McBride (Mechanicville) earned the win, throwing a complete game with seven strikeouts.
Fredonia came back in the second game, scoring runs in each of the first four innings for a 5-2 advantage.

The Blue Devils got a huge game from pitcher Ashley Sullivan (Derby) as the junior earned the win on the mound and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. She also scored twice and drove in a run.
Constanza collected three hits in the second game for Oswego State and scored twice.

Oswego State will host Buffalo State on Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m.
