Oswego State's women's basketball team pulled away in the second half and defeated visiting Fredonia 71-51 on Friday, Jan. 27 at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego.

The Lakers outscored the Blue Devils 40-23 in the second half and turned a close game into a comfortable victory.

Sophomore Samantha Driscoll (Lisle/Whitney Point) led all scorers in the game with 15 points. Driscoll made three 3-pointers on the night. Three other Oswego State players scored nine points each, as Sarah Lombard (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs), Kelly Mraz (Johnstown/Johnstown) and Lacey Kimpland (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) contributed in a balanced scoring attack.

For the Blue Devils, Danielle Bleecker had 14 points and Lisa Gentile scored 13.

The win kept Oswego State in second place in the SUNYAC with an 8-2 conference mark. The Lakers are 12-5 overall. Fredonia fell to 6-3 in the SUNYAC and 11-5 overall.
