Oswego State winning streak snapped in 3-3 tie at Cortland

The Oswego State men's ice hockey team tied Cortland 3-3 on Friday night at Alumni Arena in Cortland.

Garren Reisweber, Peter Magagna, and Brendan McLaughlin scored for the Lakers, but the rest of the team was stymied throughout the night by Cortland freshman goalie Ben Binga, who made 47 saves.

Oswego State took the lead in the first period as Reisweber scored his eighth goal of the season while the Lakers were on a 5-minute power play after a major penalty was assessed against the Red Dragons. The Lakers remained on the man advantage, but Cortland took advantage by scoring a pair of short-handed goals in the span of 1:14 to take a 2-1 lead.

A second period power-play goal by Cortland's Zach Dehm put the hosts in front 3-1, but the Lakers rallied to tie the game.

Magagna's power-play goal with 6:03 left in the second period, assisted by McLaughlin and Ryan Ellis, pulled the Lakers to within one. McLaughlin knotted the score with 10 minutes remaining in the third. Ryan Scott made 22 saves.

Oswego State, ranked fourth nationally, is now 8-0-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in SUNYAC play. Cortland is 4-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference.

The Lakers return to the ice on Saturday afternoon at Hobart.
