Lakers rally for victory at Geneseo

The Oswego State men's ice hockey team rallied from a third-period deficit to defeat the host Geneseo Knights 5-4 in a matchup of nationally-ranked teams at Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena in Geneseo on Saturday.

Sophomore forward Garren Reisweber scored three goals in the game, including the game-winner on a deflection with 6:01 left in the third period. He also started the scoring for the Lakers on a breakaway in the first period, and his second goal of the night came midway through the second period. It was a short-handed goal that put the Lakers in front 3-1.

Ryan Woodward and C.J. Thompson also scored for the seventh-ranked Lakers. Thompson's goal with 7:15 left to play tied the score at 4-4, leading to Reisweber's game-winner 1:14 later.

Reisweber has six goals on the year, and his three short-handed goals leads the nation.

Mike MacDonald had three goals for 14th-ranked Geneseo and Trent Cassan scored the other goal. Three of the Knights' four tallies came on the power play.

Oswego State is 6-0-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in the SUNYAC. Geneseo fell to 3-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in SUNYAC play.

Ryan Scott had 28 saves for Oswego State and improved to 5-0-0 on the season. Senior defenseman Ryan Koresky had two assists.
