The men's basketball team broke a two-game losing streak with an impressive 63-49 win over Utica College on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
 The Laker defense did the job, holding the Pioneers to just 49 points. Utica entered the night averaging 75.9 points per game and its previous low point total this season was 59 points in a win at Nazareth on Jan. 27.
 Oswego State built a 29-21 lead after the first half and maintained the lead through the second half. The Lakers are now 16-5 on the season, while the Pioneers dropped to 15-5 with the loss.
 Todd Franze continued his recent scoring surge and led Oswego State with 18 points. Nick Perioli (Liverpool) added 12 points in the contest and scored the 1,000th point in his Laker career. Ahmad Mims (Syracuse) had 11 points and Kyle Reuter (Mexico) and Mat Burridge (Hannibal) scored eight each.
 Ray Bryant led the Pioneers with 22 points. Justin Cichon was the only other Utica player to score in double-figures with 10 on the night.
 The Lakers shot 48 percent from the field in the victory. Utica, one of the nation's top 3-point shooting teams, made just 2-of-8 attempts from behind the arc.
 Oswego State hosts New Paltz on Friday at 8 p.m.
